Phoenix Finds Water On Mars

There has always been hope, and some possibly believed that there is water on the red planet Mars, but this week we found out the truth. Yes, there is water on Mars! This is the first step in finding out if there is, or ever was, life on that planet, and whether or not the planet may be hospitable to visitors (like, yep, us!).

“We have water,” said William Boynton of the University of Arizona, lead scientist for the Thermal and Evolved-Gas Analyzer, or TEGA. “We’ve seen evidence for this water ice before in observations by the Mars Odyssey orbiter and in disappearing chunks observed by Phoenix last month, but this is the first time Martian water has been touched and tasted.” — NASA.gov
